My aunt wants to buy a digital camera for her boyfriend and she asked for my advice since I have just bought myself a digicam and I checked the market... I also checked these boards and need some advice now.

She wants a compact camera, but there is no need for it to be an ultra-compact. They will probably only 3mp, so I figure that cameras within the 3-4mp range will do for them. He mostly has experience in using disposable cameras, so manual controls are not necessarly required but some would be nice. He mostly takes snap shots of many various things, many of those risk being in low light situation or indoors. Her budget, including the memory card and the batteries is of 500 CAD, so I figure that I should stay in the range of 350 Canadian $ before taxes(more or less 300 USD).
This is not something which she mentionned she'd like, but I figure that having a video out would be very interesting for them.

I have thought of the A75, since I own the A95 and I find the camera to be very good, it might not be the fastest to focus in low light situations tho. I also looked at the KM G400 since it will be carried in a bag with , maybe the lens would be better protected. I had also thought about the Nikon CP3200, but since it boosts the ISO in low light situation, I am unsure if it would be appropriate. The Sony DSC P73 was also looked at since it is supposed to be very fast, I'm wondering if the noise reduction problem of Sony is also present for this camera. There was also the Kodak CX7430, but then again I am unsure of how the camera performs.

Mostly what I am looking at is a camera which is easy to use and will produce decent image quality in low light and indoor shots. If you have any experience with those cameras, please tell me whether or not you'd recommend them for those situations, also if you think another camera would suit them better, I'm open to suggestions.

My daughter has the Nikon CoolPix 3200, and she really likes it. It's small, but it does have a focus assist lamp and it is easy to use. Like most small cameras, the flash is only good for a two to three meters, but it still does pretty well. Most stores in the US are selling them for around $200 (US),so it should fit within your aunt's budget. Good luck.

I'm biased in favor of my Canon SD300 so take this for what it's worth. However, you'll really like the Canon SD200 if you don't really need 4 megapixels or manual features. It takes terrific pictures and is really fast (no lag problem) and has an excellent video mode.
