If you click this link, it shows you the lense I want to buy

http://www.bananaboatcamera.com/nk70300.html

Is that a good lens for the price?

Because I found another lens that is 70 - 300 but more expensive...Probably because of other features. Here's the link to that one

What are the KEY differences?

& one is newer model. The VR is great if you don't have rock steady hands or the ability to settle your camera for the time it takes to get the shot. If this is your choice for an only lens, it is way too big, you would want something near 20mm & then up for all purpose. P.S. VR stands for Vibration Reduction if you didn't know.

If you want either of these to work with the Rebel XT you have referred to previously (on several other threads).....better select the model that comes with the hammer/file and glue kit.

The ED version is not AF-S, so will not auto-focus on the D40.
