I am considering buying a canon point and shoot camera and i needed help in the following matter. Please could anyone help me out, i am in a delima.
For point and shoot cameras, with an expectation of reasonably good results, which ccd will be better -
10MP 1/1.8" ccd
or
7MP 1/2.5" ccd

if you are making an enquiry re noise, why not ask about that
with either of these sensors its pretty much line ball
1/1.8" 38.18 sq mm, 10Mp, 267,917 sites per mm
1/2.5" 24.71 sq mm, 7Mp, 283.286 sites per mm
on the basis of noise, for which a strong association is placed with high density chips. ie. number of photosites per area of chip. These chips are very similar. Having said that, the architecture of the chips can come into play and go some way to making slight differences. But on the basis of what we see here, these are chips good for well lit conditions as a noise avoiding strategy. As to 10Mp v/s 7Mp, Im pretty sure you wouldnt notice the difference.
