I took my nine month old pup on his first hunt this morning. The weather typified the kind of blah light I deal with on a regular basis, with overcast skies, occasional light sleet and a little water effect fog very early on. It was an absolute BUST of a hunt. All we killed was a couple of hours, but Cade did great in the blind and I am very happy with the FZ7 so far. The first shot was a, "Whoah, that ain't right... but it looks kind of cool" sort of deal, and the second came out nice. First one was shot at 1600 ISO in virtually no light, second shot is from later in the morning, about the time of true sunrise.

The second one looks good to me. Enjoy your camera.

That is a nice photo of the lab. How do you like the low light pictures so far?

I have a few more that I shot at ISO 800 that look fairly good on the computer screen. There is some noise and the edges are a little soft, but they don't look terribly bad. My girlfriend has a photo printer, so I am going to make a couple or 4 x 6 prints tonight and see what I get. Some of the images have focusing problems, but that's primarily an issue of shooting from a layout blind (laying down), one-handed, with the lens two feet from the dog and without the camera on macro.

I am planning on downloading Neat Image at some point over the weekend and starting to learn that software.

high ISO works great when the object is still......

Elisha, "still" would NOT describe a hot-blooded Lab pup on his first hunt, hahaha. Words that leap immediately to mind are "frenetic", "spastic" and "mildly retarded". I can't believe he settled in late in the morning when the second photo was taken.

I know exactly what you mean!
