Canon 70-200 2.8L (non-IS) on sale after rebate at CanogaCamera.com for $1,084.94.

What do you guys think? I've been looking for prices for awhile and this is the lowest I've seen it from a reputable site (No eBay please!) Anyone else have any other leads? If not this bad boy will be mine. I'm so f$#^ excited! My first L :)

Ordered from them a couple of times with no problems.

Don't forget the tripod!

And also to stand just a skosh further back than you would with an IS-equipped version at minimum focus. (It's 4.9ft for non-IS (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelTechSpecsAct&fcategoryid=150&modelid=7341) and 4.3ft for the IS (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelTechSpecsAct&fcategoryid=150&modelid=7469)) Weird, huh? Yeah, I measured. ;) Being 7.2 inches closer made the decision easy.

I know, I know ... a man has to have his standards. Comes out to about $100 an inch, I figure.

Thanks Dennis. 0% tax and free shipping made the choice easy with Beach Camera. And tripods I have a plenty. It will be a good feeling to finally have a complete kit :) ...even if it means living off Top Ramen for awhile :) But it's OK because I'm going to get every penny's worth out of that sucker. Pictures coming soon...

You're welcome. A lot of the time they are a few $ cheaper and so far I've had no problems ordering from them. Enjoy the lens and post some shots.

I've not come across a rebate offer that made it worth cutting my box up and thus eliminating my ability to return the item. :D Congrats on the lens.

Hey, I just have to ask: If you weren't going to keep the lens, why would you chop out the UPC code, anyway? Replacement for a "busted" lens should really be no problem regardless of the condition of the box. I don't require the box be attached to my camera when I use the lens, either. The box isn't under warranty, last time I checked. I guess things have recently changed ... I better check this week, huh? All I know for sure is that I have received a number of rebate checks to cash and have a bunch of hole-filled boxes on my shelf.

In the meantime, don't people buy a series of lenses just before an important event they want to shoot, then return them afterwards? Like big screen televisions, right before the SuperBowl? It's no wonder return costs are going up and retailers are complaining if you are grabbing the UPC codes for rebate purposes.
