I want o try and get daylight shots at the skate park, shot in manual with second curtain flash

The effect I am after is a motion trail of the skater/BMXer with a sharper grab of the skater/BMXer at the end of the motion trail

Any ideas/tips

I don't think the Speedlites (even the 580EX) have enough power to drown out daylight. You'd have to shoot at something like ISO100, f/32, 1/8000th and with high speed sync enabled. Your effective flash distance would probably be like...3 inches.

Its a sweet idea but I've only seen it executed at dusk. . . photoshop could be an option?
