Hey folks. Hope everyone is having a great '07 so far.

So here's the deal. As many of you regulars know, for lack of a better phrase, I freakin' adore this camera, and frequent any thread that has anything to do with the s6K. Recently, I shot a lot in RAW and was pleasantly surprised at how much more detail I was getting, so am planning to do more of it. Knowing the storage implications of RAW, I bought one of these (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7914055&st=olympus+xd&type=product&id=1149207969474) 1gb xD Type H Sandisk cards; the one I bought has an OLYMPUS logo on it, but I thought no biggie.

Upon first inserting the card into my s6000, I got a "CARD ERROR!" message. I know I read somewhere that OLYMPUS xD cards offer some sort of functionality for Olympus-only cameras like panorama & stuff, so I assumed an in-camera format would solve it. It did.

Well, at least until 2 days ago. I was shooting at the Getty Center here in California on a particularly cold (for California, I'm sure it's nothing compared to where Paul took his recent shots from home :) ) day, around 42F. I got the dreaded "CARD ERROR" message. After taking out and reinserting the xD card a few times, it went away. But when I got home (central heating at home was a very comfrotable 72F) I got the error twice.

Now I'm worried. I read online that some unlucky s7000 users used to receive their new cameras with bent pins in the memory card compartment that caused the same "CARD ERROR" message. I know for a FACT that my 1-month old s6000 has never been dropped nor abused, and I've maybe inserted and removed the memory card a total of 10 times if that. I never had this problem with my 512mb TypeM Fujifilm branded card.

So what do you guys think? I'm pretty much hoping it's the whole OLYMPUS card thing versus something mechanically wrong with my camera. I'd hate to be without it if I were to send it in, but if that's what you guys think, then so be it. The other remote possibility I was hypothesizing was the climate change, but I don't know how plausible that is. Knowing I've never had that issue with a Fuji brand card also gives me a little reasurance that it may be the OLYMPUS card.

Thanks in advanced folks.

Well any good troubleshooting technique uses process of elimination. In other words run with your other card for a while and if the error doesn't crop up then get the card replaced. If not then you might have a bent pin but so far I have seen no one with this issue with the s6k.
