finepix 5100 or dimage z1? help!

I am looking to upgrade (quite a bit) from my finepix 2650. My cousin bought the minolta dimage z1 a couple of months ago and she really likes it. I have played with it a bit and I like it mostly too. I have only looked at the 5100's reviews on the internet and cannot find it in any stores to play around with. I need to spend preferably less than $300. I'm not sure about the 5100's macro capabilities but I could get a macro lens. I am not sure if the $100 more for the 5100 is worth it. :confused:
Mostly I just want to be able to take decent pics of just about everything and play around with the manual settings. Macro is fairly important, and the 10x zoom is cool for sports and animals and whatnot. Please help! :)

Although I would much prefer the Fuji over the Minolta, I don't think the Fuji is worth the price difference, even if it does have 0.8mp more.

If you do decide to spend closer to $350, then consider the Panasonic FZ3, which is better than either....
