I need your help, for real!

I'm going to be submiting a 15 second commertial to a local radio station for a competition they are putting on. The winner gets 5000 bucks! I would love to have that money so I need you all to be as honest as you can. I don't need friends I need critics. Does the timing sound right? Does it look profetional? They will be putting this on T.V. (CNN, Spike TV, Sports stations ect.)

only thing that looks a little amateur is the black to the left and right of the chick singing and above the shot of the guy.

i'm thinking maybe zooming in close and panning in some direction slowly to get rid of the borders of the pics. other than that, it looks really good bro.

I think the music is all wrong. Whats the message here? Is your goal to attract new listeners? I think your visuals are pretty sweet but I think the music is all wrong. Your text is asking the potential viewer where have they been, why aren't they listening to this station yet - the song works before the lyrics start, "its hard to argue when you won't stop making sense. . ." I don't see the fit.

Other than that I'd clip the fading lyrics.

His perhaps - but the people he photographed may have some say in how their image is used. In the US, it's called "right of publicity" and while it varies from state to state, no one would run a commercial on TV without a release from those people.

Thanks for all the replys. I'll need to sit down and go over every thing when I have some more time. Profetional, hehe, me speal god! Oh, man I'm in trouble!:D

About the pics, They are all mine except the one at the end, I stole it from the station. I know all the artists that I have taken pics for. and all the pics were taken at LiVE events, so all is well there too. The music is from Snow Patrol. The guys at the station told every one to not worrie about that stuff, they would take care of all the leagal stuff it was chosen.... I think the easyest to legal will have a huge advantage so I might use an intro from my brother's band.

Hey Nick. I got to see a few of the competitors. . . other than the one that ripped your photo off, which IMHO should be grounds for disqualification, but it doesn't matter - their cuts are wayyyy tooooo fast bro. I like yours the best man - I like your chances.

Thanks for taking a look. I've been thinking maybe scrap my current add and try somthing a little more youtubeish. The radio station's mantra is "LIVE LIFE LIVE" and I think if they wanted a pro add they would have just done one. I think I should try going over the top on this one. Better production quality and different content. I really think my competion for this contest hasn't showed up yet. The contest closes the end of the month I think that's when the good adds will show up. There is another photographer around who used to work in video broadcasting so I'm sure he's got something good in the works.

The only thing I'm a little worried about is the adds going into the finnals will be voted for by friends and the such. That means I've got to do some serious marketing for this thing to make sure it even gets in the running.

Windows Movie maker, I wasn't even going to enter the competion until I noticed it was on my computer. I've never even opened the programe before:D I put that clip together in a few hours learning and playing around last night. It's fun and easy to use. :)

I agree - I thought it was funny though - but way too cramped for 15 seconds and it looks like everything else out there - way too much emphasis on everything but the music. . . yours has edge and flare.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I made a new one. I sent it in to the station an hour ago. Hopefully they will have it loaded to their site tomorrow so voting can begin. I wish I could have had more time to try different aproaches but I just don't have the time. I'll let you know when you can all vote for my clip:)

I used a song from my brother's band. I'm hoping that will give me a slight edge in the legal side of things when it comes down to the final decission. I'm still worried about that one ad though... man that one is good. Oh well I'll do what I can to get into the final round and see what happens from there. I won't be holding my breath though.

One of my biggest fears is that I won't even make it to the next round. They are advertising it as a "popularity contest" and if some kid who spent 20 min. in movie maker makes it to the final round and I don't I'll be P%$^# I can't tell you how much time I spent messing around in Premiere Pro on this and every time I watch it I see things I want to change. I just had to stop and submit it. I'm driving my self crazy!

so you picked up the premiere pro. did you check out those tutorials i sent you? the program is really tough to start on...but once you figure out nested sequencing and keyframes it becomes easy.

Ya I asked around and one of my buddies has it. I spent a ton of time on it. Every time I thought I was done I just kept going deeper into it. I had to just stop and submit what I had.

Next to the circles should be the names of all the contestants BUT their web site sucks and sometime doesn't show the names if you highlight the names with your cursor you should be able to see the names. I found it. I think I voted for ya. I had to reverse count to match up cuz even if I tried to highlight nothing showed up. Dunno if my vote was even successful but I tried.
