I was happy to see new F40 link but after this "The first of the three cameras is the FinePix F40fd, which is the follow-up to the F20 (and not the F30/F31). " I'm quite disappointed. The only real improvement is supporting SD card but that's not a unbearable one.

Hear us Fuji we wait for real image stabilizer and real manual mode. We dont want marketing made-up products. At least for F line...

What exactly do you want out of a real manual mode on a camera this small? The range of apertures is tiny, and due to the sensor size, all have pretty big depth of field. There's not much to do that you can't do by adjusting EV compensation.

I agree, image stabilization would be nice, but it's not surprising that it's not been added to the F series right now -- it'd take a major redesign.

And we'll have to wait and see what kind of quality Fuji has pulled out of the 8mpix sensor.

No "real manual mode" in the Canon digital Elphs either. M is a program mode in those and in Fujis

I'm using an F20 (and a Canon SD700IS) and the F20 is really very capable -- especially so in low light situations; that really makes up for no IS. Big plus of the F40fd:

o SD/xD slot
o Zoom control is moved to near shutter button (vs. rocker on back)
o Mode dial (vs. menu)
o Face detection (not sure that is such a big deal to me)
