I sent a Nikon CoolPix 4500 away for service on August 17, 2004. I was given the run around until yesterday, when I learned that there was a moisture problem and it wasn't economically feasible to fix. I'm upset  that they told me it was a focus problem and fixable but now say moisture and don't fix. Has anyone had service problems with Nikon?

I'm now in the market for a camera. I want an easy to use digital with swivel as the 4500. I want something that will use my existing add ons...my compact Flash Memory cards and my Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries and battery charger. The swivel part is only a wish but not necessary. I would like minimum 3x. This camera does not need to be a Nikon.

Is anyone else ticked with LACK OF GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE from these people. I waited from August 17 to December 2 (being told all the while that it was a problem with the ZOOM in the camera and the part was on the way to the discovery on December 2 that there was a moisture problem.

Please let me know any suggestions...I want this for Christmas

Gina,

I had a question for Nikon and called them. Was inquiring about the iTTL flashes for my Nikon 8800 and what would and wouldn't work. After having to press "1" for english, etc. I got through in about two minutes to a live person. Found them very helpful.

However, haven't had to send anything back either. Hope I don't have to, but I did have a good experience; at least phone wise.

I've never had problems with Nikon. They've always been helpful and friendly to me.

Nikon service problems, yeah I've had a few. I am a loyal Nikon customer and all my gear is Nikon.
I bought used a neg scanner ls-2000, I sent it in to get referbed, it came back worse than when i sent it in, i sent it back agin came back worse. The third time I sent it in I didn't hear anything for like a month, I called and they said it was damaged during shipment. I figured it would be no problem to claim it with ups because it was insured and nikon paid or all shiping. Wrong, they said a claim can'y be made with out evedence, and guess what the techs through away the "evedence" a busted box. After several calls and talks with supervisors I had to pay a couple of hundered dollars to get it back.
Their service from my experiance sucks, but they still make good products and I still buy their stuff.
