Hello Guys,

I just got my new XTi with kit lens. I mostly take pictures of landscapes and also I am into Macro ( flowers, abstract ). I read many threads relating to lens on this forum but I wasnt able to decide on which one to go for. I did see many people mentioning about EF 50mm f/1.8 II OR f/1.4 USM -> I am assuming that this would be a lens for portrait and with low lighting. Can any one suggest me an inexpensive wide angle lens for a beginner and also an inexpensive macro lens.

If you were to suggest which of the lens should i get for
(1) Wide angle
(2) Macro / Portrait.

Is there one lens which would take care of more than one fucntion. Like macro + portrait and so on.

PS: if you guys look at my gallery you might get an idea on the kind of pictures i take.

Thanks
- Kiran

The kit lens is considered the inexpensive wide angle lens. If you are looking for lens that cover down to 10 or 12mm, you are considering fairly expensive lens that range from approx 500 to 800 dollars.

I've seen good results from this lens.

These seems to be in your price range.

Macro Portrait, a good choice would be a Canon 60mm 2.8 macro. I've heard good things. Also if I were you I would get the Sigma 10-20mm just because it's wider, and wide is fun:)

I've heard good things about sigma 10-20 and I am giving it a thought.
