Hello!

Well I wanted a Macro (does it need it?) and a Wide Angle lenses for my S3 (it will be arriving on tuesday! i'm super excited). And i was just wondering which kind to get and what everyone else is using. I'm new to this and plan on growing more in photography so thats why I have no clue what kind of lense and such.

I really appreciate you helping, thank you!

Much Love,
Teresa

Oh and one more quick question what kind of batteries should i get? I know it takes regular AA bats but like I want ones that charge up fast and last a bit.

The S2/S3 macro and super-macro mode do a pretty good job on their own, but there are some improvements that can be made.

I have a Tiffen Closeup Macro set and I find they work great. They give better magnification, nicer brokeh, and let you shot from further away. There are some other macro options too, some people here use a lens from Raynox.... I'm sure they will chime in soon.

I too am interested in a wide angle lens... Full wide is just not wide enough on this camera. I'm going to get the Raynox 6600 PRO as soon as the Christmas season fades from memory.

Welcome to the boards, and post some pics as soon as you get it!

my DCR-250 works wonders for me.. very strong magnification may cause some trouble but with practice, its actually a very easy lens to use ;)

do u need it? its up to u.. the DCR250 can magnify the image by a lot and show you much more detail.. if thats what ur lookin for, then get it =)

as for wide, im not sure what to get for myself yet, the 6600 has a .66x wide angle rating......... its the widest you can go without major barreling but the downside is the fuzzy edge/corners...

theres also the 720/730 wich are .72x and .73, not AS wide but much clearer.. and is very clear on tele mode (keeps u from having to detach the lens if u want long zoom pics)

downside to that is its not as wide and theres more barreling. check out lensmateonline.com for samples from all the 3 lenses mentioned ;)

What kind of photography are you planning on doing? That is the first question to consider before getting the extras... If you are going to do a lot of macro, then getting the extra lenses is a good idea. For me, they are probably the best thing I bought to go with my camera (I have a set of hoya macro lenses), but then I do a lot of bug, plant, and fungi pictures... Also, a TC might be a good thing to consider with macro. You can zoom in even closer to the subject without actually being so close... I bought the Raynox 6600 PRO instead of a TC, and now I wish I had waited for the wide angle and gotten a TC first... So far, in the three months I've had it, I've barely used the wide angle... But if you are going to be taking pictures of building or landscapes, it would probably be a good thing to have...

Me, I have a TC, WA (Raynox 6600pro), and macro (DCR250). The one mostly used is the macro then the WA, then the TC (I hardly use).

I suggest you get a adapter, UV filter and a snap-on lens clip (with string to attach to the body preferrably) and always attach in your camera. This will protect your lens. I had my lens jammed 2 times with the cap intact. This protection and function at the same time. :-) HTH.
