Well fans, day two of the Not Quite Tennis Open got underway today. Unfortunately, the weather was not as kind. The dazzling blue skies gave way to cloudy conditions which had the Englishman (and his fan) chomping at the bit.

While a number of the bigger draw cards were absent from this tournament, Iva Bigun and Vatchma Vollie again drew large crowds. Mexican waves were predominant at the change of ends and Micro Waves were evident during the lunch period.

With crowds rushing in through the gates, security measures weren't as stringent and I was able to smuggle in the 70-300mm IS lens.

So without further ado......

Even at this level, every effort is put into returning the ball

Watching the ball is critical

18907

....and again

18909

Connecting is even more critical

18908

And just sometimes...both the player and the cameraman misses the ball

18910

Which means he needs a bigger racquet....and I need a bigger lens.

If only it was that easy :D

If you ever have some wedding shots that need a bit of "commentary"....let me know :p

Thanks Mediyoga......being fast action (sometimes), I'd made the decision to use Shutter Priority and try and get as fast a shutter speed as possible until the camera's meter spat the dummy and said "too fast" :) .

Now that I've had some practice at taking shots, I'm hoping to get out to the Medibank International tomorow to see if I can get some of players we may all actually recognise :D (depends on physio results today for my knee, and the wife's kind heart ;) )

Thanks Pete.....if all goes well, should be testing my abilities in the real world of tennis tomorrow.

If I get there, going to try and smuggle in the "naughty" lens.
(if I'm not allowed it....my next focal length is going to be way too short from the stands)
