Nikon 4800 or Olympus c765 - Any thoughts? I had been looking at the c765 and found this 4800 along the way somehow and I think I like it much better. The extra zoom the Olympus has doesnt bother me. Has anybody had any dealings with these two. Anyone out there with the Nikon 4800, Do you like it? Anyones help much appreciated!!!

Hey, I too have been checking out the Nikon 8400, which has replaced the Nikon 5400, which also replaced the Nikon 5000.
The main plus point is that the Nikon has a 24mm wide angle lens- which might have use to you if you document architecture/ interiors etc. The zoom is nothing like the Olympus C765 your comparing it to. The Nikon also has 8 megapix over the Olympus's 4 MP, but I guess you'll pay for this.
I'm hoping to hear from users of the 8400 also- and have posted that question on the Nikon forum here too. Other's have recommended to me the Olympus 5060 or the 8080, both have wide angle and less zoom- so the question is: which do you prefer- wide or zoom? Hope this helps? I'll be interested to know which you go for as I'm in a similar dilema!

Hi,

It seems that you like a compact ultrazoom camera here.

Both cameras are probably the smallest available in their class and both sacrificed IS for the compactness. If I'm not mistaken, the Oly has a bit more manual controls than the Nikon. Apart from that not that much difference other than the zoom difference.

I own a C770UZ myself and has been very pleased with it (no plans to upgrade for the next 2-3 years).

I'd say the current cameras are very very similar to each other in terms of photo quality. The minor differences between the cameras will determine which is better for you. Any minor flaws that don't bother you too much should not be a deterent to buy an otherwise good camera.

The final choice is yours.
