Please tell me the d80 allows you to manually meter white balance with a white/grey card? Silly question, I know, but the specs I see in review all say " manual presets" instead of just "manual". I know, I know, I can shoot in RAW and make things perfect later, which I will do 80% of the time. But, part of what I love about digital is the instant gratification of seeing the image you want right away, and adjusting appropriately for the next shot if it's not what you want. Film was always a wait and see; sometimes that's how processing on my PC feels. I know at least on the d80 I have presets and separate K temp adjust., I just want to make sure I can manually set it as well.
thanks!

Yes, you can meter it.
Four options at least:
- Presets
- Kelvin
- Meter
- Setting the wb from another shot.

You can preset it from another image, this means you can ask someone to hold a piece of white paper and take a photo and select it as the one should be used to calculate the WB

Thanks so much! Shot with a friend's Pentax k100d and was really unhappy with the WB; that camera has no adjustments past presets and manual meter. You are unable to adjust temp. or adjust what the camera meters for WB off of a white card; so you're stuck taking a "test" shot until you are happy with the WB. Silly, so much nicer making adjustments to the shot yourself, to your own preferences. Sounds like the D80 has a wide range of choices for WB metering. Now if only I could find a store in my area that is not sold out of them! thanks again.
