Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7

Im thinking about getting one, so I decided to take my thread here instead of which camera to buy, because this is the main one Im considering and wanted to ask people that have them and havent just read about them.

My requirements:

Size

Doesn't matter, though, I really want a well built camera. One that won't break into a million pieces if its dropped. (Not saying I drop them... but... one that can handle being roughed a little bit, but if not, I'll deal)

Quality

Image quality is very important, something that I REALLY care about is a camera's ability to take good night shots. Thats something thats a must.

General Usage

I will be using the camera for a lot of different things. I'm very into taking photos and editing them with photoshop, landscape photos. I would also be using it for social events.

Prints wise, I dont constantly make big prints of my photos. I would probably just be making 8x12s, but, I would not mind having the option to make bigger prints.

I will be shooting both indoor and outdoor, mainly outdoor. As I stated before, low light (night) photos are a must for me.

Not really sports photos, can't really think of many action shots I'd be taking, but, once again, wouldn't mind having the option to.

Thanks a bunch!

For outdoors where there is plenty of light, FZ7 will fulfill your needs. You will also get by with night scenery shots since you will need to use a tripod. However, you can't do much for social events and lowlight indoors. Its ISO only go up to 400 and it's not known for clean image when underexposed.
For those requirement, FZ30 (with hotshoe for external flash) will get you further. If lowlight shots top the list, you should also check out Fuji S6000fd.

Seeing that you do not have your mind made up ....I never suggest waiting, but I think a FZ9 should be near......perhaps see what that brings or perhaps a TZ2.
I have seen the FZ7 at walmart for 250 dollars that may be a good opportunity to investigate this world of ultrazooms .
But you never really mentioned any need for an ultrazoom.......There are better cameras if the long lens is not your main goal.

You mentioned Landscape shots perhaps a camera with a wider angle is more like what you want.
