missing pics

I just bought my first digital camera. I had about 40 pics on it when I thought my son erased all of them. I had taken about 40 more and last night I was messing around with it and all of my pics were erased again, I didn't erase them but it says "no images". Are they still there somewhere, is there a way to get them back?:confused:

Though it may be too late now, files from digital media can very easily be recovered if deleted.

If you choose to format the card, or take write to your media after having deleted something, things get a lot worse.

This is because deleting a file, only sets a "status flag", telling the writer that the following area can be overwritten in the future.
