In evaluating the D80 vs. Rebel xti vs. Sony A100, I have discovered that my elderly uncle has a boatload of older Nikkor lenses. (I have some Minolta lenses compatible with the Sony, but don't like the Sony viewfinder - seems very dark).
After reading the Nikon charts, I'm still not sure about the compatibility of some of the lenses, so I'd appreciate some feedback from the knowledgeable folks here.
Per my uncle some of the older lenses were converted by Nikon to auto focus years ago.
Here's the list - and my thanks in advance:
AF 50 mm 1.8
AF 35-70mm 3.3 - 4.5
AF 80-200mm 4.5 - 5.6
AF 70-210mm 4
From the reading I've done, I guess these will all work on auto - ?
Then there are the lenses that say "auto" but not AF - maybe these are the ones that were converted by Nikon?
300mm AUTO 4.5
200mm Q AUTO 4.0
24mm N AUTO 2.8
28mm H AUTO 3.5
He also has these specialty lenses that do not say AUTO
PC (perspective control(?) 35mm 2.8
P (portrait?) 105mm 2.5
macro 55mm 3.5
Again, thanks in advance.
