my setting is

D80 and SB600

how do i get a good exposure with the SB600 for indoor shots? (at different mode, S, A, P, M)....i mean what shutter or aperature setting do i use

If your just starting out and learning the flash, set it to "TTL" and let the flash do all the work.

The way I learned the new stuff that my Panasonic FZ20 didnt teach me was to just fiddle and toy with different settings and learn with the hands on approach.

It also doesnt hurt to read the manual a couple times.:D
