I am a newbie that just got my S1 IS last week and I love it. I was looking around at Canon's teleconverter lens for my S1 IS. What is anybody's opinion on it? Does it look good? Does anybody else make one for it? It sounds good I like to take shots of birds on the feeders in our back yard and like to get close from inside the house.

Thanks-Jerry

I've recently purchaced the conversion adapter (with the hood) and teleconverter both manufactured by Canon. I'm pleased with the results so far. From what I've heard on other forums (dpreview.com), the Canon's TC-DC52B has been designed specifically for this camera and is producing much better results than other teleconverters.

For sample pics on what can be done with the Canon's TC-DC52B teleconverter, you may want to check out Richard Higgs' "Feathered Friends" page (http://www.pbase.com/rhiggs1/feathered_friends).

Thank you for the post. Your pictures are great! :) Those pictures alone have sold me on the Canon lens. I had a feeling that the Canon lens would have the best results since it was made for this camera. I wanted to see some shots with it before I put it on my Christmas list. I hope my wife thinks I was good this year. By the way. Are any of those pictures at full zoom?

Thanks again,
Jerry
