Features
5+megapixal, any optical zoom is fine(standard)
image quality is important 8/10
manual controls im not too conserned about

General Usage
will be using this camera in my travels to take pictures and capture many videos of things of significance.
also taking videos at parties and pics too.
prob not any sports but maybe dancefloors and runways
may blow a few pics up but majority will stay sandard size
about half of my pics will be indoor and many with low lighting also many night shots outside

Miscellaneous
Open to any brand/model that will fit my needs
looking at the samsung nv3
also looked at sonys t10 t30 line and the cannon s3 however video takes too much memory. also the cannon was too big. like the size of the sony and samsung

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)
YES need image stabalization, and ability to put more than 10-20 min of video on a 1 gig memory card. perfer over 30 min
at 640x480 resolution at 30 fps.
zoom while recording
also sound while recording

anyone recomend any models that will do this??
video more than 30 min on a 1 gig card in 640x480 at 30 fps. image stabalization. zoom while recording. and take good pictures too.

i am traveling light and dont want to carry both a camcorder and still camera. and my main thing i want is a still camera but still want to have good video quality too without filling up a 1 gig card with only 10 minutes of video.

The Kokak EasyShare C875 (Jeff's review is here (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/c875-review/)) uses the MPEG-4 format for movie recording so it can record up to 33 minutes on a 1 GB card, plus it allows you to zoom while recording.

If you want something smaller, there's the Kodak EasyShare V-series (V570 (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/v570-review/index.shtml), V603, V610 (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/v610-review/), and V705).

those are either too big or thier quality is lacking

thnking geting a dcs-t50 and grabing 2 4gig pro duo cards
that would give me little under 2 hours of quality video and pictures
any other suggestions?

think that route is outta my budget
i know i said no budget b4 but i guess
trying to stay under $500
getting that t50 with 2 4 gig cards will take me well over that

from what i have read
-the v570 has bad battery and noise caries into mic when using zoom for video.
-is bigger brother the v610 has same low battery life and also has poor pic quality
-the v603 is a lil larger and has same zoom motor sound in the recodinging as the other kodaks
-and the v705 retains that same problem of sound of zoom moter being picked up while recording. also the image stabilization is only on vedo mode not while taking pictures.

looking for smething small that will do video well. 30fps with a zoom and sound

still leaning toward the nv3 but anyone else recomend anything else??

back to wanting to get the sony dsc-t50 or the samsung nv3

sony is nice quality but the video mode will requre 1 gig for every 12 minutes
were the samsung the quality seems a lil lower quakity but can fit like a hour on a 1 gig card

both can zoom while recoding video without sound issues im told and have image stablization for pic and video and both are in a really small package

any others you guys can recomend. need to get one in a few days

Then I think that the Samsung is your best bet. I don't think there is currently a camera out there that fits all of your wants. Right now, I'd say you have to pick the feature that is least important to you (camera size, video length, video quality, picture quality), and give it up. Hopefully, your ideal camera will come out in the future and you can get it then; but until that day, you can make do with the next best thing.
