Budget - up to $500
Size - ultra-compact (the smaller the better)
Features - image stabilizer, high ISO, underwater housing available
Megapixels - 6 or higher
Otical zoom - 3x minimum
How important is “image quality” to you - 10
Do you care for manual controls - some would be nice
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos - yes
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos - yes
Models you already have in mind - Canon SD800 IS & Sony DSC-T10
Needed special features - Image Stabilization, underwater housing

I am looking for an ultra-compact camera that I can put in my pocket while travelling and also use for scuba diving. I currently have the Sony DSC-H1 ultra-zoom (I like it but sometimes it's too big to take with me) and the Sony DSC-T1 (also like it except for the weak flash and lack of image stabilizer).

When I began to research a new ultra-compact camera I had 3 criteria: image stabilizer, underwater housing that can go at least 33 meters/100 feet deep, and a high ISO (to compensate for the weak flash found in most ultra-compacts). I have narrowed it down to the Canon SD800 IS and the Sony DSC-T10. They both have image stabilization, underwater housings, and a high ISO (sony ISO of 1000, canon 1600).

I have read numerous reveiws on both cameras and they both sound like good cameras. I like the look and feel of the T10 (smaller and sleeker compared to the canon) and the menu system of the T10, mainly because it's what I've used for the last 3 years or so. But I have heard very good things about the image procesor in the Canon.

I am completely stumped. Any opinions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's close but I prefer the SD800 because it uses SD, has a VF and wide angle.

I have the T11 and a friend has the SD. While both are small, the SD is noticeably heavier than the T-series. You'll like the very light weight of the T but should be aware of the limitations. The t50 (steadshot, stronger flash) is what I would get if I could trade in what I had.
