Didn't one of you guys have a problem reading the XD card on your mac? I just emailed the distributor (whatever they are) o fmy XD card read- GGI. They simply said what i would expct- It should just work fine ona MAC.

Pretty much i agree. My Mac actually detects the reader and card once inserted. It says "the disk is unreadable". So it pretty much means to me that the reader is doing it's job and the Mac and maybe the fuji info isn't working together.

OK- well i had thought i had Fuj's updates. maybe i'll check again. But what methods are you guys using? I think it was Paul (witht he MAc and problems) or maybe just with CS...don't recall exactly. Any way I am guessing any of you guys on a PC have no issues with or without using finepix viewer...or with or without a card reader- or just the camera link. ???? Seems like somone in here mentioned they are able to drag and drop from the reader directly to their desktop. i think it was in here.

thanks

I don't have a card reader yet but this has been the knock on xD all along. I have always just used the camera itself to connect. I pull all the JPEG into iPhoto and now I use GraphicConverterX to grab the RAW RAF files to avoid the FinePix viewer.

I am havng an issue with reading the card from the camera on a Mac also. I just got the camera 12/22, so I have not done much troubleshooting yet.

I am running 10.3.9

I also have a finepix 3800 that uses xd cards, and when it connects it appears as and external drive. I do not have a card reader yet, have just always used the camera. When I use the same xd card in the s6000, it does not show up as an external drive. It will activate iPhoto and it will recognize the camera, but I cannot get the video AVI files off the card.

The only way I can figure to get it of is to setup finepix software as what automatically starts when the camera is connected. I have been using iphoto for years and have a sizeable library, so I would like to keep using it for now - it is simple and my wife can use it to email her pics quickly.

If you find a solution I would like to know. I will keep looking for a solution as well.

I did just find a solution that works for me and may work for you.

Use the application "Image Capture" - part of OSX

You can setup the Image capture program to be the default program when your camera is connected. You can also set it to delete the files after download. It will by default download the pics to to you user pic, movie and music folders appropriately.

I left iPhoto as the default app for photos, but then use image capture to grab any other files on the camera - specifically the avi files. it automatically puts the avi in my user/movies file. I specified to delete after download. WORKs PERFECT :)

If you have any Questions bout the settings let me know.

I'm curious if people having issues are using cards 1GB or larger. There seems to be some kind of threshold there even with the products that Fuji offers (CF converter & card reader).
