I have a kodak easyshare dx4330 camera that i've used for years and have been basically really happy with it.

I'm looking for a new camera that will be used mostly for travel photos and family pictures. There's lots of kids and blue eyes in the family and lately I've found that I've had to edit all the pixs because of red-eye. I have software to do it but it's time consuming and often doesn't get rid of it completely.

What would be the best camera to counter this and also that would be good on my travels. I've read quite a bit about the Fuji F30 being good in low light and possibly that would help prevent the red-eye initially. not sure if to go this route or if any of the new cameras with in-camera red eye fix are any good.

Any input would be appreciated.

Frances

All compact digicams have some read eye. That will not totally disappear until the flash is moved a certain distance away from the lens (as with pop up flashes or shoe mounted flashes).

Here are a few samples, straight from the camera, all shot in its "Redeye Reduction" flash mode:

I'm not gonna say that the TZ1 never gives redeye, but I'm surprised at how rarely it shows up. And its flash is pretty close to the lens.
