Problems turning on Olympus Stylus Verve S

Hi!

I have problems turning on my Olympus Stylus Verve S
(mju mini Digital S).
What happened is I have done something I have never done before: I removed memory card. The reason I have never done it before is because I usually used cable to transfer pictures from camera to my pc. However now I bought a card reader and started using this. So after putting memory card back in the camera and inserting the battery correctly and locking the lid correctly I turned on the camer and the message I got is this: "The lid is not closed". However the lid is closed. I have tryed several times removing battery and memory card and putting it back again and closing the lid. I still get the same massege: "The lid is not closed"

So can I fix this with your help or should I just send it to authorized dealers which can fix it??

i can think of a few things to try
it sounds like the sensor that detects door closed/open has failed or jammed
have a look around the open door and see if you can find it
and see that the latch mechanicly closes all the way, and nothing fouls the door closing

if that fails then next i would try this
take the battery out for 24 hrs
this may reset the internal software 'if' that is at fault

if you have another card by all means try it
always format the card with the camera not the pc

there may be some more ideas here so stay in touch
but if all that fails its a warranty gig i think
