I have a work mate who is going to buy an FZ50. He is very keen on wild life photography (from birds to insects).

Does anyone know if there is an economical ring flash available that would fit the FZ50? Also there has been lots of threads on the tele and wide converters, but most seem to have picked them up second hand. Is there an economic new one available. The one for the Sony H5 seems to be a much better price than most. Is as easy as adapting one of these to fit?? Do you lose much light with these things?? Panasonic claim to retain the F2.8 with theirs.

Thanks for your input.

Your friend is getting the best in wildlife camera made.....

I am sure I have seen flash rings on the FZ30 so they would fit the FZ50 also but I am not sure if they would work TTL.

The Nikon teleconverter seems to be the best teleconverter for the FZ30/50 but the Oly Tcon 17 is a very good one considering the price, 100 dollars.

The sony converters have their following but I tried the more expensive one a few years ago and I did not feel it was any better than the Tcon17..

And the claim is the Tcon 17 does not lose any light but there is some light fall off at the edges....but IMHO, its as good as the Panasonic one.

If your friend has not yet tried it, tell him to be sure and try the EZ zoom feature of the camera, it is very good.
