I posted earlier about being inclined towards purchasing the Canon powershot SD300, however after looking around the Powershot S500 also looks very appealing.

In terms of picture, and general camera quality, which is the best?

The S500 may soon be replaced with a new model, since it's been out for quite a while and is still using Canon's last-generation Digic chip. However, the S500 produces generally better photos (probably because it uses a different lens) but it's also bulkier and has a lesser-quality movie mode. In terms of image quality, the S500 has one more megapixel than the SD300 and doesn't blur the corners of the frame, so I'd go with that.

Still, I'd recommend waiting for Canon to release an updated version of the S500.

Hmm. So how blurry does the SD300 get? And what causes this, is it just under certain conditions?

Blurriness is at the corners of the frame and, depending on how detailed the corners of the frame are, can be very noticeably blurry--but still shouldn't be a problem on small, snapshot-size prints like 4x6 or 5x7.

Blurriness worsens when using larger apertures.

Hey "Smarter Child", do you have an SD300 or are you using certain online pics as your basis? My pics look great.

Tremendo, do you have any examples of photo's taken with yours?
