Not sure when it came out but must have been the last few days.

Just posting this, because I had recommended it to a few people, knowing that it was on the way.

Interesting to say the least. Any particular reason you would get a D80 after just getting the D50? The D80 isnt that much different than the D50. Now if you were to say the D200, that would be different.

#1 Reason wife wants to get into this stuff as well.
So she will need a camera and she loves the D50. Therefore it will be hers.

#2 I love the grid lines in the D80 viewfinder and the bigger viewfinder.
I think this more then anything after using the camera a bit at the local shop is what i like and what will push my decision to the D80
the extra MP i can care less about as I never make BIG prints..

D200 i would be lost as how to even set that up
I still use a lot of green mode from time to time
but am finding myself shooting more in S mode the past 4 days..

I really don't get why people think the D200 is so intimidating. None of the Nikon cameras are hard to set up and master, you've just got to be patient. This could be a Christmas present to your wife, and the D80 for yourself ;)

The D200 is a lot more money than the D80, and there are a lot of features shared. Of course there are enough differences that I'll pass over the D80 for the D200.... Just wish MY WIFE wanted my D70s so I had a good excuse to upgrade!
