I am STILL trying to love my camera. Hasn't happened yet, but I'm trying. I have the most trouble with outside shots of my 3 year old playing. I tried the kid/pets mode today and that didn't cut it. Still LOTS of blur. I tried 400 and some of those came out but the ones on the swing with her swinging did not and also of her running did not. Some of those were fairly grainy as well. What am I not doing right??

Thanks for your help

Was the flash on? sometimes even if the flash isnt needed it can adjust the camera so that it stops motion. Its worth a shot.

This camera really isnt for action, its more for still images and portability. Its the best at like family shots, shots of people standing together or scene shots not really a "sports" camera where there is fast action.

On some of them, I did fire the flash, but I guess (I'm looking back now again) the best ones did have the flash and/or on kids/pets mode.

I had it set on ISO 400 and it gave me a ton of noise. Could I get away with ISO 200 and taking pics of my daughter running? I guess I'll have to try it when she wakes from her nap.

I'm fighting the urge to chunk this camera out the window.

Well you just cant have everything in a small package like that. If it was so easy and it worked good you wouldnt see the larger cameras. Im sure its a good camera its just limited.

Changing the ISO will help with the noise but it can also cause blur. You need to find that happy medium for you. The faster the shutter is (first number) the better it will be at capturing action. Im not sure what is the limit, maybe 1/200? or 1/250th of a second. If you figure it out you can then bump the ISO down so there is less noise and the shutter is still fast enough to stop motion
