Hey folks, i'm so glad i found this forum, looks like there are some smart and friendly folks here. this is my first post here since I got the Nikon D50 during the Thanksgiving sales from Ritz.
I think the depth of field shots are awesome, so I've been practicing those shots with different F stops in aperture mode.
Here are two shots with the same setting. I guess it matters where I was focusing on??? I was just trying to blur out hte background.
Both pics are shot in f 2.8, and shutter speed 1/125
Thanks, Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I have a friend that's a professional photographer, so he let me borrowed his 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S Zoom-Nikkor.
That why i went Nikon cause of the interchangeable lens with his. :)

Well your first shot is good but yes you are right about where your camera focuses. Just try and check that everytime you take a shot. Usually you can see in the viewfinder where your camera is focusing. I wish I knew a friend that is a professional photographer so I could borrow his/her lenses. That 17-35 is an excellent lens. Keeep it uup!

Let me guess you are living in a hotel now since you bought your camera, and your spouse threw you out. Happens all the time, usually they let you back in.
If you relly want to blur the background, pick up a 50mm 1.8 for just over a $100, great for dof control and low light situations.
(The onset of NAS has begun and they don't even no it yet).:D
