Thought I would start a thread on carry-on baggage solutions. Since I will be doing some air travel in the next week, I went out a picked up a nice back-pack style bag. I will still pack my lightweight bag (compressed in check-in), but I wanted to have something to take my laptop AND my camera as carry-on.
My solution was Lowepro CompuDaypack. $80, but it claims to handle 17" laptop and photo gear. I am a bit skeptical on the 17" number, since my 15.4" fits nice and snug - but for me this looks like a great trade-off.

They have quite a few options for the combination, but the one above fit my budget, and need for space other than just camera and laptop. Here is a link to the larger selection for laptops AND camera bags.

Anyone else want to share what they use / want for travel?

I have a Lowepro Computrekker AW, and have used it for flights from here (Alaska) to D.C. as well as Mexico. It makes a great carry-on :)

I just used a Lowepro Slingshoot 200 bag. It was only for my camera stuff (not much yet) and it was my carry around bag for the trip.
Worked out great, really like this bad a lot.

I've been looking for a nice carrying bag for my camera equipment. One that can hold both my digital and my film slr hardware. I was looking more at a Tamrac bag, but this one is quite cheap.

Who...
If you don't need to carry a laptop, there are probably better solutions than either of these. If I wasn't carrying a laptop, I might look at a sling style for travel.
For my business use (the hustle - bustle - on-site - gotta have everything with me type) I have one large hardcase that can accomodate 2 cameras with lenses, a camcorder, flash, etc. And I also have a smaller hard case for chargers and other hardware, as well as another smaller hard case for display pieces (I shoot property and a sub-set of that means I need jewelry display props). Of course I have a huge duffel that carries lighting stands, lights, tripods, lightbox, etc.

I know, I do not have a laptop...I was not even considering this backpack, but if I were to get a laptop which I will in the future, this backpack looks to be a very good solution to carry my equipment and the laptop all in one bag.

I have the first one you listed, the green one. I don't do much plane travel, however, I do bring my laptop to each photo shoot, just in case. SO it is very handy. I love it! Very comfortable all loaded up too, despite how heavy and it is so well built! Very happy with it!

i have a computrekker too and i think it's great as carry on. i do a huge amount of traveling around and personally i find it indispesable. i can cram in my external hdd's, leads, cleaning equip, psp, mp3 player basicly the lot. no one ever really checks the weight either because it just looks like a normal rucksack.. my 15'' mpb fits no prob infact it could take the 17, i think. i do intend to get the daytrekker too though, maybe a nice xmas present to myself....:D

Thought I would follow up since I just got back from a trip. The backpack worked as expected, with a pleasant suprise... It fit in the under-seat storage! I was expecting to have to place it in the over-head, but when I slid it under the seat in front of me, it fit very nicely!
I think it was a great bargain.
Just don't get the impression that you can stow your camera with big glass mounted like some of the larger bags - though you have some decent options available with the velcro adjustable dividers.
I have numerous bags. For starters, here are the Lowpro models:
Toploader 75 AW - My primary carry around bag since it holds the 70-200 VR.

Compact AW - Holds my spare camera body, extra lenses, flash, etc.

Dry Zone Rover - I have the black-on-black model.

I also picked up a smaller holster style bag and may eventually get something like a Pelican case, since many times I'll toss my computer back-pack, the Compact AW, the Toploader 75 AW, a monopod, and a tripod into a large Stanley rolling carpenter's box when traveling via automobile--it's a tight fit.
