FZ20/adapter/Lens hood assembly

My own lens hood assembly on my FZ20 w/Olympus 1.7 T-CON. There is absolutely no vignetting beyond 6X out to 12X, which fits precisely within the digital conversion lens parameters of the FZ20 when set in tele digital conversion mode.

The final assembly is a Boyer 62-55mm step-down ring screwed onto a Phayee 62mm (bottom half) adapter. A thin used 77mm filter (glass knocked out) is expoxied onto the front of the T-CON 1.7 (a perfect, extremely tight press fit before epoxy) upon which the generic ($7.95 ebay BIN) 77mm steel lens hood is screwed.
Best of all, the front of the hood is threaded for 77mm filters.
The entire assembly is front-end heavy+ but the extra weight adds to hand-holding stability at maximum zoom, especially when panning.[br]You will of course have to support the front end when the assembly is mounted on a tripod.
+ Though some might quibble, the 62mm Phayee adapter sets the T-CON close enough to the front of the Leica lens there is little vignetting and far less than with any other adapter setup I tried with the FZ20 and Oly 1.7 tele combination.

Now we Oly T-CON shooters have the protection we need to shield the front end of the T-CON lens from bumps and accidental fingerprints, as well as completely knocking out any and all contrast reducing stray light.
The entire kit travels well in my St. John’s Bay car coat, the Oly 1.7/lens hood combination in one pocket, the Camera w/two-piece Phayee adapter in the other, Monopod at my side.

Only trying to help, but if you had a thinner step ring on the Phayee adapter it would help ...the closer the Tcon 17 sits to the camera the better. ( a point for lovelifes adapter) and more filters really does not help( I remove the glass on the 77mm filter.).....you certainly would not want to add a filter to the end of the hood. But the hood itself seems as though it would be a good deal.

But the hood itself seems as though it would be a good deal. There is no "thinner" step ring, none that would allow the Tcon to be any closer to the lens than it is.
I also noted the T-con is close enough to the lens to completely knock out vignetting from 6X on, better than any other adapter/ring setup I have tried.
You really meant closer ot the lens though, not camera?

And there are no filters in that entire assembly, none at all, though I did point out the lens hood is threaded for 77mm filters.
I also pointed out the glass had been knocked out of the 77mm UV filter ring.

And why not add a filter to the end? Flare or extraneous light getting onto the front of the lens? Using the self-timer and a 3-watt LED light, I have tried to induce flare with no real success.
3 1/4" is pretty darn deep, considering the front of the T-con lens is an additional 1/4th inch behind the back end of the lens hood.

I did not see that you removed the glass, and from the photo, there are thinner step rings than that bower....Kenko is one....and the thinnest I have seen is a generic one sold by 2filters.
If you feel you can get no lens flare, why the hood?
But if this all works for you thats all thats important.
I was only trying to help....Sorry
