Had a bit of wicked wind the other night. Woke up and saw some tree branches laying in my back yard. Coulda done some damage if it hit the relatively new shed.

Yeah no kidding. They're a pretty decent size.

Yep, they look like they could have done a lot of damage if they would have landed on that shed (or anything else).

Picture your yard Don, as it is, add a bunch more downed limbs, cover everything in about 2 inches of ice and thats what the whole region looks like here. . . I've been working a lot these past few days and have only had a few chances to take a small number of pics. . . (working now actually) but I'll upload some when I get the chance. . . I think something close to 600,000 people in the region are still without power, most of which lost it Thursday evening and night. . .

Glad your new shed wasn't harmed.

Yeah, got pretty bad here also. (Central Illinois) We were without power for over 14 hours. Some people still don't have power!
A few pics from Friday AM around 8 AM. Had to get out and try to get my kerosene heater out of my frozen storage shed. The tree in the 4th and 5th pic was pretty cool. The winds blew the tree and froze it in that shape.

Where in Central Illinois are you located? I'm in Peoria, and we got about 12" of snow. I'm not sure I've ever seen this much snow. Luckily not much ice, although the roads are starting to re-freeze over, which is causing some people problems. I took some pics yesterday, so if I remember I'll post some.

Springfield. It started Thursday noon. I had to clean a 1/4" of ice off the windows of the car before I could try and get home. Glare Ice Thursday pm commute home-I would MUCH rather have had the snow. We STILL have ice covering all the trees, but with any luck should be off them by tomorrow afternoon. Between the tornados in March and this ice storm, our poor trees in the city have really taken a beating this year.

How much snow did you get?

Here are some pics from Saturday after all the snow had fallen. The plows hadn't gotten to our neighborhood yet. It was some fun driving!! :D Of course I have a truck...

Yikes... to both the tree limbs and the snow. It was so nice yesterday here, and now we are getting that cold front. Brrrr. But, at least no snow... yet.

A few years ago, we had a tree fall on our house in the middle of the night. I was asleep and my husband jumped up and shouted, WTF was that. I told him to go back to sleep, it was only thunder. LOL... I was wrong. Luckily, it hit the side of the house and only the shingles and siding had to be replaced and there was not structural damage.
