Hello,

Its been a long time since i've had chance to post any images. The weather has been awfull here lately and ever since i got my 70-300 IS, i haven't had chance to use it much.

Anyway, went to my girlfriends parents last weekend and borrowed her dad's 5D with an 85mm f/1.8. The lens is very nice but i'm not sure i would make the jump up to the 5D, its a bit overkill for me, and i'm very happy with what i get out of the 20D. Might get the lens though :)

Anyway, took some portraits of my gf sat by the log fire. Hope you like!

Both hand held and only had neat-image on them, no other post (not yet anyway!)

Nice. Makes me think again about getting my wife to let me try doing some candle-light portraits (with flash).

It looks like you're living the good life.. a 70-300IS in the bag, a hot girlfriend, and her old man's 5D at your disposal. Life just doesn't get much better than this.

Very nice job. A little warm, but that's personal taste. Your girlfriend is lovely!

crazy how much wider the 85 is on the full frame.

the first one seems a little warm, but i definitely like the effect in the second one. she's pretty too.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I thought the first one was slightly warm, but i kinda liked it so didn't mess with the colours.

I feel very lucky to have such a nice girlfriend who will sit still for me, most of the time, depends what mood she's in:D

The 85 did seem wider than i'd expected, but i was using it on the 5D and the lounge where i took the pictures is enormous so i was sat quite far away:)

Tried it on my 20D and its a little too close for indoors in my house, still like it though.

Very nice photos of a very pretty subject. :) Personally I agree with Jamison that they're a little warm (even for firelight photos). I'd also maybe bring up the shadows a little so we could see more detail in her sweater, etc.

a bit too warm. What WB did you use?
Otherwise I think it's quite nice. So when are you going to seal the deal before someone does? ;)
