Very new S3 owner, as in Black Friday last week. :D
Stepping way up from an SD110 Elph and was about to buy the S2 from Amazon for $280 (missed the $260 Dell deal) when this S3 deal materialized.
Office Depot was advertising a $75 rebate for any camera over $199. S3 is $400 so I figured for another $45 I'd get the latest'n'greatest. While perusing Circuit City online, the S3 was being advertised for $360 w/ no rebates or anything, including in-store pickup. Long-story-short, Office Depot price-matched CC w/o any issues and threw in an HP Photsmart printer on top of that. Soooo, I now have an S3 for an after-rebate price of $285, even less once I sell the printer.
Let the accessory buying begin! Already purchased a Lowepro Edit 100 and two sets of Sanyo Eneloop batteries.

Enough about the deal... I have a real question to ask.
In my limited use of the camera so far, I couldn't figure out why the playback images kept rotating on me even though I wasn't asking for it. After [gasp] reading the manual, it appears the auto-orientation-sensor is kicking in. Thing is, I'm not really moving the camera all that much when this happens. Also, it seems to be very touchy when moving the LCD as well, i.e. will rotate the pic if I swivel the LCD a bit for someone to get a better view. Not completely rotating it fwd or backward, just a little tilt.
Is this "normal" and just takes some getting used to?
Thanks in advance!

I think you can turn that off in the menu. It is really touchy when you tilt it, i have noticed that. It doesnt seem to get that confused when you rotate it, but when you tilt it does seem to be confused. There is a fine line when you get to the point where it flips it can do it fairly easy.

I dont see a need for this feature do you?

Agreed. Found the menu item to turn it off last night. Thanks for the response!
