One of the only weddings I have photographed almost entirely with non-zoom lenses - it can be done! :D

Nice photos... I really like the b/w one of them in front of the window.
So, are you a full-time wedding photographer? I'd love to see some of your other weddings if you have them online somewhere. I'm a sucker for wedding photos.

Great as usual! I'm not crazy about the camra tilt on "Full length" and "The grape Vines, tight" So mostly primes, nice. Is that mostly for the DOF look? Thanks for sharing.

And I thought MY wedding bag was heavy! How many comments did you get when you whipped out the 300 f2.8...?
Even without your signature 70-200 you turned out top notch stuff. I know I'm supposed to be looking at the B&G, but i just can't tear my eyes away from the bokeh in those shots.
Only comment I have is that the 24 doesn't seen to have IQ on par with some of the longer lengths. Tried the 35 yet?
You de man!
#18 has my vote! Some close contenders too. That 135L is great, but #18's a perfect pose for their features. Beautiful capture, if I were them, I'd have that one in a big frame.
Last wedding ... surely you're swamped with XMas stuff. Thanks for sharing!

i get so many ideas when i look at your pictures. i really wanna try it out.
i'm not a fan of the 24 f/1.4 at all. I'm not sure why, just a weird angle to have that sort of dof on. maybe i'm just used to wide angles having everything in focus, i don't know.
what made you shoot this in mostly primes instead of using the 70-200 more??? anything to do with difference in quality or you just wanted to take advantage of the dof?
great as always.

Thanks. It just kinda worked out that way. Due to the nature of the wedding (heaps of time, no bridal party, my car was literally parked right next to me for most of these shots so I could grab whatever I wanted).
Plus I wanted to see how much of a compromise it would be - which it wasn't really.

Well I was trying to be discreet, we were alone so not too many comments!
Yeah the 24 is probably a step down in IQ. I had it in the bag because CPS kinda insisted I take it and I thought it would be handy for the previous days night-time track shots (which it was), so I was willing to experiment.
Never tried the 35mm, although I suspect it will be much more suitable for this sort of work.

Thanks for the feed-back Nick. The primes thing was an experiment to see if the extra image quality gained over zooms could be achieved without too much inconvenience of having to foot-zoom. The DoF control just came along for the ride. :D

So what was the result of your experiment. How much extra inconvenience?
Q. How many assistants do you typically bring to your shoots?

Well for this wedding there was stuff-all inconvenience as it was an outside ceremony and foot-zooming was easy, plus I had plenty of time.
A: Ummm, not many... (zero - I like to work alone). :o
OT: How come I've been dumped for Europe? I already had the fridge stocked with Lager! :D

Nice shots CW.
My fav is 24L shot of them walking on path in field, not so much for the lens but for the artistic value. Different then your "typical" wedding shot.

You've got to really love what you are doing because thats a hard way to earn a living even though you make it look so easy. (You've actually got to do a lot of work!)
We are still going back and forth- Personally I'd rather go to Europe with her for the holidays and then come over to Australia and New Zealand solo... I'll be able to drink more Lager.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that So. Cal decided to get chilly. Down Under, now that's a plan for jet setting NYer looking to escape the cold! Great idea!

Going out with a bang I see. . . .
Well done Christian. For my taste, this has been the strongest (posted here) set of images I've seen yet. I'm not exactly saying that images in the past were any less impressive, just as whole series within a post, absolutely fantastic this round. Outside of slick editing, do exposures, composition, correct use of DOF come any better than what we just saw here? - For my money, with my eyes, I say no. Well done indeed sir! What a wonderful setting for these images as well! I'm betting you wish you had more time with them?
Thanks for sharing, as always!

Vich- I don't consider myself a jet setting NYer by a long shot. I've been spending the last weeks hand sanding and painting 120 year old wood work, and today I just came back from taking my pickup truck to the dump where I unloaded several hundred pounds of carpet I ripped up from my townhouse in New Jersey.
That said, I agree with you 100% :D

Impressive. For sure I would have hired someone for the carpet ripping, that can be a nasty job.
Well, along the lines of not minding dirty fingernails and blisters, you also don't mind a 20 hour plane ride to sip a few in the sunshine for a week. Ahe? Have to say however; Costa Rica, or even Hawaii, is closer than AU. But then, ... CW has just nothing to do until 2007 (right?), and would love a visit and would probably even give you a discounted attendance to his photo class, ahe mate?
Strayed a little (little?) off topic - sorry CW.
CW - I'm also looking forward to the first round of '07. Love seening everyone's comments too. I have trouble differentiating between good and average and had passed on a couple here that I thought were over-tilted. Now they're beginning to grow on me.

Nice job Christian. Very nice setting...I like the sitting down image the most.
btw just a small tip for those who didn't already know -- to avoid a tangle of legs when shooting a sitting down scene, have the one leg folded and other over it, as shown in that image.
