Does anyone know why the SD900 Digital ELPH does not have image stabilization? Are there plans to add that feature in the near future? If not how important is IS?

Not every camera has every feature. It's available on the SD700 but not on the SD800 or SD900, possibly because they have more MP. Or because they are waiting to introduce it on the SD910. :)
On an ultracompact with 3x zoom it certainly isn't vital. Not a bad feature to have, but it's of limited use on a camera with so little zoom.

I agree not every camera has every feature but i think they decided this camera didnt need it. You need the IS for lots of zoom and low lighting, since the SD900 has a higher ISO maybe thats why they decided it didnt need it.
In low lighting you need a slower shutter if its to slow you get blur from not holding the camera still or the subject moving. If you increase the ISO you can run a faster shutter and then it doesnt matter because a faster shutter can stop time and get a good still shot anyway. Maybe they have decided it didnt need it?
Ide rather have Higher ISO then iS personly. Less moving parts to fail and a higher ISO is alot more flexable.
