I was extremely disappointed by the color saturation in some of the test images in the DCRP review, compared to Canon models. But after looking at more test images, I suspect the differences may have more to do with the tests than the camera.
For example, at iso 100, the A100 was clearly inferior to the Rebel XT, but the Rebel showed superior saturation to the Canon 30D.

Here are links to the full size images.
A100 (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dslr_a100-review/DSC00209.JPG)
Rebel XT (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/digital_rebel_xt-review/testshot-xt-100.jpg)
30D (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/eos_30d-review/IMG_0154.JPG)

I would expect the 30D to do better than the XT, so I suspect inconsistencies in the tests.

I also suspect that the differences will be less apparent when using the raw format because of the lack of in camera image processing.
