just been tipped off that FZ50 review is up

Its been up for a week or so and was posted in another thread here. Nothing surprising in the review though, terrible at medium to high ISO and great outside in good light.
If you want to spend alot of money on a camera that can only shoot up to 400ISO, then heres your camera:rolleyes:

frankly jcon
many cameras in this field can only go to iso 400
the iso 800 and up images being relatively useless
that includes the canon S3is, though probably not the S2
as you would also have seen me say here before
not that either of those cameras draw the same critique
or tht they are as bad
while i have always agreed FZ50 has problems
raw shooting is a workaround for 'its' upper limit iso
this dodges the venus engine and allows PP editing that wont be as fierce

Panasonic has done some great stuff with the last few generations of the FZs....many features that are way above the competition but they need to reconsider cramming more mp on a sensor and they need to add a buffer to the camera and a compressed raw ...so the raw feature of the camera can be used...... IMHO...it sucks the way it is now.
For my type of picture taking ,RAW on the FZ30/50 is worthless.

Who is the 'everyone' saying it was taken at high ISO? The ISO isn't shown in the EXIF, so how are we supposed to know if it was "high" ISO? Also when you resize a 10mp image down to 0.3mp it tends to not show noise very much. It looks like a fairly bright tank, what ISO were you using?
Camera Make: Panasonic
Camera Model: DMC-FZ50
Image Date: 2006:11:16 16:32:11
Flash Used: No
Focal Length: 14.8mm (35mm equivalent: 70mm)
Exposure Time: 0.033 s (1/30)
Aperture: f/3.2
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: program (Auto)

Having personally looked these over they did indeed say iso-3200. For some reason this picture no longer shows the iso.

If this image was taken at 3200, then FZ50 is more than OK; it would be excellent. But reduced size or not, I doubt very much this was from ISO3200.

In another thread " acquarium photos" i had expressed my doubts about this photo being
at ASa3200, now i feel i may be quite right.
the exif now shows "program (auto)" , in this mode the FZ 50 cannot , mark it, cannot work at ASA3200 , it can work only upto ASA1600 , ( set from the menu).
I have a FZ 50 and since this photo i have tried to get the equivalent exif, but did not suceed.
To get FZ 50 to work at ASa3200, the only way is to set it to "HI sensitivity mode", set thru the menu
only.
at the same time the photo is good, and that remains.
