There is a cure for that. It's called a 105 micro. :D

My brother got all nerdy on me and researched it.
Junonia coenia or the Common Buckeye to be exact, which is a butterfly!
Who Knew?

No new lens for you to borrow Rich, sorry

While playing with my new D90, I happened upon this scene in Greenland Colorado and after a few captures and exposure compensations, I ended up with this.
By the way the D90 is incredibly versatile!

beautiful shot.

Just researching, might not even be butterfly. I quit!

lmfao...great stuff. its an awesome moth shot though. lol :p

r3g very creative...not sure about the lighting that strong under her legs...

That strong lighting just draws my attention to the light. Not sure if that is a good thing or not, but since one's eyes are usually drawn to a hot spot, that may not be such a bad thing as well. :D

There is a cure for that. It's called a 105 micro. :D

I keep thinking about that lens as well, but next thing that would probably happen--bug shots and flower shots. ;)

I took the camera out for a short spin last night... One sample of three I posted on Flickr. One of the other photos has the roof cropped out and another photo was taken in a turn. Just experimenting since there was no science to my madness other than trying not to loose the camera and counting down.

Nice shot. I have yet to take any onroad bike race shots. Someday, but I'm not even sure if I want to shoot drifing in a couple of weeks since the 105-110F weather is already a bear and it will be hotter at the track.

You're bad.

The car is a 1964 but the hood is a 1967.
The last I knew the two 1967s made with the full-race packages would each fetch a very pretty penny. Then again, I'd settle for the only 1983 which was in the museum the last I knew.

I've been heavily out of the photographic loop this month, only having three occasions where I went out and shot. Luckily, those three shots gave me portfolio quality material.

But, to bide everybody over... here's another from the shoot with Kait. A little more formal portraiture :

Wow some great shots recently.

Turo, really like your shot. But, either side of the pole supporting the basket I'm seeing a different shade of sky. I'm guessing you used CNX and had a control point on one side only darkening the sky. CNX uses the change in contrast to determine edges near your control points and wouldn't darken the other side of the pole unless you put a control point there too.

Love everything about the bath shot

12C cold? <chuckle> Don't come near Saskatchewan then. We don't start whining until -30C. At -40C, the snivelling really gets loud. At -50C we stay inside.

Pretty nice TNB. That guy got sawed off! Maybe the ump is too close to the edge of the frame?

Regarding the ump, I was tempted to cut him out all together but I didn't want part of a person in the frame and that tight of a crop. The "rule of thirds" also places the batter's hands directly on the "lines" if drawn. If I left more of the ump in the photo, that would shift that point away from the batter and even farther away from the broken bat unless I left more in front of the batter. There is also not that much to work with since I like to shoot close and tight, but have actually "backed off" than when I first started just to make sure I can still capture a shot with a broken bat and ball and still crop a photo straight if needed. At least that's my intake as to why I took the photo and cropped it the way I did.

Also, here's a shot I took yesterday from the press box though the field is not as large as that other field. ;)

Thats all that matters! I wasnt saying it was bad or anything, because its not, was just curious if you considered doing anything to the sky to make it like an HDR type of sky. I did a quick edit to the picture, but I dont feel comfortable posting your picture here, so if you would like to see what I did with it, feel free to PM me your email!:)

Wow beautiful shots everyone. I was going to say:

Great spider Rawpaw. You scrubbed the exif though so I can't see how you did it. If you could post the Apperture I'd be interested as the DOF is perfect yet with a small bug. I guess you didn't want to give Rooz any hints;)

KJM I love shot 2. They eye engagement is wonderful and two great subjects.

Atlpik that car pan is way cool.

At least those are the comments I'd intended to make about the first few shots I saw before I realised everyone has pretty much said the same thing already and that the great photos keep going and I don't want to be typing compliments for days.

Odd, I never take it out. Wonder since I added the frame in Picnik that it removed it. The whole exif is there on flickr if you want more.
ISO 800, f/10, 1/250" The dof I am finding is affected greatly by the amount of tubes you use more so than the camera setting. Still experimenting.

yepp. i always wondered why they wouldnt create a focus bracketing feature in dslr's. they have WB bracket, exp bracket, flash bracket etc. i think it would rock if you could take multiple shots bracketed to your AF points allowing you to stack images together mcuh easier.

As we are now more than half way through the year I figure that it's time I wrote to you and let you know that I have really been a very good boy so far this year and that I intend to remain so. I have included a couple of photos showing some items I would really appreciate if you added to my stocking come the night that you do your rounds. As they are rather expensive I just thought I give you plenty of time to pay off the lay by or whatever you do.

After a few people in this thread (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44678) suggested that something like Lightroom or Photoshop would be better for photo processing than Picasa (which I was using up to this point), I decided to try the demo of LR. Here is the first pic I sent through it. It doesn't really showcase what LR can do, but I was able to play around with it a bit, and in the end, liked this particular version of the pic.

This weekend there was a small airshow at our local Hot Air Balloon Jubilee. The Balloons were grounded because of wind, but they did have some cool planes. I believe these were trainers from WWII. Used the kit lens for the D90.

F5.6 1/1000s +1EV using aperture priority and spot metering. The spot metering seemed to be more accurate if I could keep it on the plane. If I had done matrix I probably should have been +2 due to the harsh shadows that showed up.

I've got two favourites on this shot I took yesterday during an odd lighting sunset, so clearly I'm doing something right:
