A95, s60/70 fringing, UV filters
Newbie here, with some technical background.
Have seen pics of the A95 and s60/70. The A95 takes remarkable pics, but is is prone to purple fringing. (SF nightshot, sunny day corridor (fringing torture test).
I can't get EXIF data for some pictures, so I assume:
Nightshot: max aperture, max wide.
Stanford: Auto mode (whatever that is)
I thought the S60 lens was a little better, but now I think it isn't (in terms of resolution and chroma aberration at 50mm eq focal length). The only explanation is that somehow the s60 CCD is less sensitive to UV, or the s60 has an internal UV filter built-in.
Another possibility is that the s60 lens works better on wide mode.
Fringing seems to depend on the type of lightbulb... and sunlight is very bad in this sense.
Is this all a weird theory?
Question:Can I "fix" fringing by attaching a UVA+B filter in the front of the a95 without killing resolution or sensitivity?
I plan on taking pics with 50mm eq. focal distance, with the occasional wide/zoom pic.
AA batteries and price difference are very attractive features you know!
Cheers
