Hi - I want to purchase a new canon to capture my 2 year old twins.
I am looking for a camera that takes pictures quickly (not a lot of lag time with focusing from one picture to the next). Also not a lot of red eye as my son has blue eyes. I am looking to print 4x6 pics only. Also I will be reducing the pictures when I email them to friends through PhotoSuite.
Based on this would you recommend
Canon SD800IS $349.99 *recharge battery
Canon SD600 $249.99 *recharge battery
Canon A630 $269.99 *AA battery
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

You also posted a similar thread in the Canon forum. It's better if you keep this question to a single thread so people don't repeat themselves and all the info is in one place.
I'm not sure there's any real reason to go for the Ultracompact SD line, it's going to cost more and be a bit harder to use in an active environment. They are smaller and easier to carry around, however, so that may be any issue. The redeye on the SDs will be worse than the A-series. Both are equally fast, and have the same usable ISO, that is a wash.
Personally, I'd go with the A630. You get more features, a bigger CCD for better image quality, and a camera that is easier to handle.

I've owned a PS A620 for about a year now, and I love the camera. Red eye is definitely an issue, and it appears the same is true for the 630 and 640 series. Lag time is not an issue, especially with a 2 GB 150x SD card.
Another great feature of the A series is that it takes (4) AA cells. I use Sanyo 2700 mAh cells (http://www.thomas-distributing.com/sanyo-2700-aa-rechargeable-batteries.htm), and I can take hundreds of photos without having to recharge them. It feels sturdy in your hand, you can get a solid grip. I'd love to buy an A640, but can't justify it since I've had my A620 such a short time :(

All compact cameras have red eye when using flash. Sony claims to have successfully fix redeye with built in software. How successfull that claim is I don't know and I'm not one of the believers.
Whether you use Canon SD or A, when the batteries get weaker it will be slower since the camera needs time to recharge for the next shot. A630 might be faster than SD series.... (don't quote me on this).
You should also take a look at Fuji F20 or F30. They are very handy for kids photos inside the house or where the light is low and flash is not desireable.
