i wana pro-semipro camera cause i wana get started into serious photography. im a technology lover that learns his machines. so i want full manual + tons of options and the ability to get new lenses is a must. a couple of years back i got my girl a ps a95 and i love the image quality and options, so a canon brand is my first option BUT not married to it.

also i want a camera that can be held and shoot by anyone. and get a picture or two out of them... ( Auto focus, i dont know if the rebel does auto focus ).

the ability to get new lenses is a must

Um, the G7 and 710 IS are fixed lens cameras, so no new lenses. Or did you mean converters and filters?
I'm going to buy the G7 myself, because it already is too expensive for me and I don't want the size in the DSLRs. But if you have the money, want superb image quality and low-light performance and the size doesn't bother you then go for a DSLR.
