View Full Version : Is it possible to use Raynox DCR-250 with 18mm-55mm lens kit or 50mm f1.8 lens?
Hi,
I have a question that whether we can mount the Raynox DCR-250 macro lens with the 18mm-55mm lens kit or 50mm f1.8 lens to make a macro lens? If possible, how about the performance? The macro lens for a DSLR is so expensive.
The DCR-250 is able to mount with lens which filter thread is from 52 - 67mm, but I mostly see it is mounted with P&S camera.
Thanks for reading my dummy question.

I have a the Raynox 250 and I use it on my Canon S1 IS and get great results. Here is a picture of a Canadian twenty dollar bill. I circled the area that I zoomed in on.

Dodo,
Interesting, could you let me know if you are able to get this to work?
I own a Canon 400D myself, wouldnt mind to try out a more economical version for macro shots.

How much does this cost?
Krz... macro extension tubes might be the best solution.

is a 50mm macro out of the question?
maybe a sigma 28mm macro f2.8?

Ryhs, besids this brand, which other brands would you recommend for macro extension tubes for my Canon 400D 18-55mm kit lens?
I just wanna to achieve some kinds of these photos:

The author used Panasonic FZ20 + DCR-250 and his techniques :D
I wonder whether when we mount DCR-250 to 18-55mm lens then we can get similar quality (of course I need to practice more)?
I'm still undecided between S3 IS and an DSLR. Each has its pros and cons.

Raynox has sample images captured by Canon 300D and DCR-250

I would think that other brands(Pentax, Canon, Nikon) and 18-55mm lens could achieve the same
Actually, I dont live in the US, otherwise I will give it a try

The Raynox is not an extension tube. It is a macro add-on lens. I suggest a Kenko or other tube/tube set. The set will be more expensive but will offer more than a single tube.

Whats the main difference between a macro add-on lens and a tube set? Which one will offer better IQ (image quality)?
