This may be a stupid question, but can the use of the photostitch function replace the need for a wide angle lens?

I am trying to decide between the A95 and S60. The main thing making me hesitate about buying the A95 is the 38mm lens (compared with 28mm on the S60). But I was thinking if you need to fit more into a picture (eg. for a landscape or large building) couldn't you just take 2 pictures with the 38mm lens and link them using photostitch? Might not work so well for groups of people because they would have to stay very still.

Any comments?

Thanks very much Alnath. It looks like that is a viable option. Maybe I can live with a 38mm lens!

I enjoyed looking at your photo galleries too.

sometimes it's a huge hassle and sometimes you feel like you've done everything right but you still get a seam that'll need to be cloned out. A combination of a cloudy/windy scene could be a nightmare, throw in a dark condition that requires a long exposure, and GOOD LUCK with that! Having said all that, panoramic photos can be breathtaking when you are successful, only problem is that I find myself doing pano's only when there are clouds in the sky, and that gets to be a pain in the butt. Even so, I was lucky enough to do a 4sec per shot hill-top sunset pano WITH clouds and wind and it turned out to be one of my best pictures. If you are going to do A LOT of wide angle shots that would require stitching, I suggest trying it out a few times first (if this is at all possible for you) to see if you are comfortable/successful with this process. I should also mention that there might be times when you or your subject is on the move and a stitch would be impossible.

You could always buy the A95 if that is your preference and purchase a wide angle lens for it later :)
