Just got my Canon G7. Lovely camera.

BUT I noticed two dots on ALL my photos. So I took a photo with just black and you see two dead pixels on the sensor.

Can this really be? Is this common on digital cameras? What should I do???

Here is the full image resized to 1280x960:-

And here is the 100% crop of the area (bottom left):-

One is red. It is bigger of the two but less offensive. The other is white and a bit smaller but always sticks out.

Thanks.

I have 3 or 4 on my S2... in 99% of photos they don't really show but occasionally I have to clone one or two out... when I first discovered them I thought it was the end of the world but I fiddle with everything in photoshop anyway so hasn't really been the big issue I initially feared.

I will demand the camera be replaced.

However what is Canon's policy for dead pixels? Is it like LCD monitors in that 2-3 dead pixels are deemed "normal"?

Thanks.

I don't think it's normal.

You should do an exchange and hope the next one is better.

G7 is pretty expensive for what it is IMO, so you shouldn't have to accept those annoying dots on all your photos.
