I need a new slr

I am looking for an slr that is under $1200 that will take good pictures at night football games. can u recomend to me one that would do the job. right now I have the Kodak p800

The question is can you find a good fast lens and dSLR for under $1200...

Nikon D50 + Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 should work for about that price. The problem is that the 70-200 is not a good walk around lens, so you will probably want to buy a decent 17-70 or 18-70 f/3.5-5.6 (add $300-$400) for everyday use. The 70-200 is very good for daytime tele shots as well.
