Hi all.

Over the last couple of days, I've changed my personal website gallery from using some basic software called Singapore to a more advanced package called Coppermine. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of using this themselves, and if they had any useful hints & tips for the best way of securing your images to prevent saving them etc.

All the images in the gallery are taken with my FinePix S9500 - but don't expect them to be of fantastic photographic merit! a great many are just "point and shoot" holiday snaps, or just shots taken for the hell of it... :o)

Also, you can see the high level of noise I've found in a lot of shots at ISO 800 (although at this stage, I didn't realise Photoshop's Save for Web data stripped the EXIF data, thus you cant see this info on the image information). Most of the interior shots in the Roman churches, Vatican museums etc were taken with Natural Light mode - and the full size versions are very noisy.

Anyway, constructive comments are always welcome, both here and on my site (you can leave comments on each image etc) - and for any coppermine users, i'd be glad to hear of any advice/tips you have!

Helps if you have the link though, it should be in my sig but just incase - http://www.sauvagii.org

:) :D :)

I hope that you don't mind me posting this photo from your gallery. I just really, really like it.

Great job! I really like the rhythm, balance, simplicity, and composition.
If you don't want it here, tell me and I'll remove it right away.

Hey,

Not at all - i'm very flattered!

There's a "watercolour" version of that shot in the Effects & "Digital Art" gallery - done with Virtual Painter 5... a simple little thing but its cute and good at what it does!

One of my friends loves that sort of thing thats why I started messing about with this stuff.

Thanks for posting the photo though :o :)

I looked, but I couldn't find it ... maybe it was changed so much I didn't recognize it? Perhaps you could post it here :D

Hey there,

Afraid thats my mistake! :o

I thought that it had been uploaded but having just checked it hasn't - i'll update that gallery later tonight.

Try the Flickr gallery - it will probably be in there, under "Photoshop'ed to Hell"

Unfortunately, I cant check just now as i'm at work, and Flickr is blocked by our web filtering! :(

Haha, fair enough.

I've been experimenting with a few of these - one of the people i work with is well into this sort of thing, so I guess i'm trying to keep her quiet! hehe.

Think there's another shot like it too, i'm getting lost there's so many these days! :o :o

hi, had a look at your coppermine gallery and thought the whole set up was pretty nice. you have some real good pictures in there too. Having seen it i decided to run my own as i was looking for something in between trying to learn (x)HTML. i've found a host though that has the gallery as an mysql database already, so that saved a lot of issues. What i was wondering was, having looked at yours, how did you turn off the "user gallery" account. i want, like yourself, to run it as a private gallery. i've looked through the forum help site and couldn't find any reference to any thread detailing how to turn it off.. any help would be much appreciated.

Allan.

Hey Allan,

I'm not quite sure if this is what you're after, but in the config, if you go to "User Settings" and choose "No" for "Allow New User Registrations".

I'm not sure that's exactly what you want though? :o

No problem - I'll have a mess around when I get home myself.

I've subscribed to this thread from my work email, so i'm only skiving if you get a quick reply!

When you do get things running, post back and I'll come have a look! Good luck!

Hey Allan,

Sorry for the late reply - for some reason I'm subscribed to this thread but didn't get any notifications of any replies.

Gallery is looking good - some fantastic shots there.

I'm pretty pleased with Coppermine, seems pretty easy to use so I'm sticking with it for now!
