Sony Dsc H5b mode dial icons wearing off!!!

I've had the Sony H5 for just over 2 months and I am finding that the mode dial icons are wearing off. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is this isolated? Buyers beware the support chat representative claims that this will not be covered as a warrantee repair. I have yet to contact them by phone and will update this when I find out for sure.

A layer of clear nail varnish

The clear spray you can get which is normally used to spray onto self printed cds to stop the ink running/scratching. Obviously a couple of layers is needed and you need to cover the rest of the camera carefully.

From your reply I gather others are having this same problem. Having searched here and on google for quite a while I can not find any other mention of this problem could you perhaps provide a link or two. Perhaps if enough people get together Sony would be pressured to correct the problem.

Thanks also for your suggestion of varnish ,which had also occurred to me. The problem is I'm not about to void any possible warrantee claims I might have by applying varnish to my almost brand new camera.

Luckily for me I took the 4 year plan from the best buy where I bought this camera and will be returning itthis time and every time this problem reoccurs. Others might not be so lucky.
